Plumcots
Tree fruit varieties offered by Dave Wilson Nursery are selected for their firmness, good shipping characteristics and desirable flesh quality. Approximate ripening dates (for the Fresno, California area), chilling requirements and patent information are listed for each variety along with any special traits.
Bella Sun
Named for its yellow blushed skin, the Bella Sun plumcot is harvested in mid-June, immediately after Flavorella. Bella Sun requires a pollenizer such as the Escort Aprium®. This selection has an estimated chilling requirement of 700 hours. (U.S. Plant Patent Pending)
Flavorella
With the size and shape of a plum but with yellow skin and firm yellow flesh, the Flavorella plumcot is a pleasant surprise for consumers. The fruit features a pronounced aroma reminiscent of a Santa Rosa plum, while the tart skin is slightly pubescent like an apricot. The Flavorella plumcot was hybridized by Floyd Zaiger, who described the flavor as "a creative taste between apricot and plum." Harvested in the first two weeks of June, this clingstone requires a pollenizer such as Jordanne, Flavor Ann or Gold Brink. This selection has an estimated chilling requirement of 500 to 600 hours. (U.S. Plant Patent # 8470)
