DORSETT GOLDEN APPLE Outstanding sweet apple for warm winter
areas. Firm, very flavorful, sweet like Golden Delicious. Productive
throughout So. California and Phoenix, Arizona. Good early season

BLACK MISSION FIG The favorite. Purplish-black skin, strawberry-
colored flesh, rich flavor. Heavy bearing, long-lived, large tree. Coast or

DESERT DAWN NECTARINE Proven heavy producer of delicious

DOUBLE DELIGHT NECTARINE Sensational fruit - consistently the
best-flavored yellow nectarine - plus magnificent, double pink flowers.
Dark red-skinned, freestone fruit is sweet, with unusually rich flavor -

GOLDMINE WHITE NECTARINE Long-time favorite in Calif. and
Western Oregon. Small to medium size white-fleshed freestone.

SNOW QUEEN NECTARINE Taste test winner. Sweet, juicy, early
season white freestone. Late June harvest in Central Calif., 2-3 weeks
ahead of Babcock peach. Long-time favorite in Southern California. Low

DESERT GOLD PEACH Very early: May in So.Calif./Ariz.
Tree-ripened fruit has good flavor and sweetness for such an early variety.

FLORDAPRINCE PEACH From Florida, successfully grown in
Southern California/Arizona. Larger fruit than Desert Gold, more tolerant
of desert heat, better flavor. Semi-freestone when soft-ripe. Ripens early

MAY PRIDE PEACH Very early-ripening peach for warm winter
climates. Ripens in May, about with Desert Gold. Delicious, sweet and
tangy, semi-freestone when soft-ripe. Very large for such an early peach.

MID-PRIDE PEACH Best yellow freestone for warm winter climates
of So. Calif., Phoenix, Houston, S.F. Bay Area. Also recommended for
Central California for its exceptional flavor and dessert quality.

TROPIC SNOW WHITE PEACH Delicious white freestone for
warm-winter climates -balanced acid and sugar, superb flavor. Harvest
begins mid-June in Central California, about three weeks before Babcock.
Showy blossoms in spring. From Florida, introduced in 1988. Very low
winter chilling requirement, about 200 hours. Self-fruitful.
FLORDAHOME PEAR Low-chill pear from Florida. Very nice
quality: sweet, smooth-textured, juicy, flavorful. Harvest July/August in
So. Calif. Early bloom. Chilling requirement less than 400 hours. Partly
self-fruitful.
AMBROSIA POMEGRANATE Fantastically huge fruits: up to three
times the size of Wonderful. Pale pink skin, purple sweet-tart juice,
similar to Wonderful. Long-lived, any soil. Inland or coastal climate. 150
hours. Self-fruitful
SWEET POMEGRANATE Sweeter fruit than Wonderful, more widely
adapted (better quality in cool-summer climates). Small, glossy-leafed,
ornamental tree with showy orange-red blossoms in late spring. Very
suitable to espalier and container growing. Harvest late summer. Unsplit
ripe fruit stores in cool, dry place for two months or more. Very low
chilling requirement, about 100 hours. Self-fruitful.
CHANDLER WALNUT Developed by U.C. Davis. Heavy bearing
(bears on lateral buds, not just terminals like Hartley). High quality
light-colored nuts. Smaller tree than Hartley, good choice for backyard
walnut. Fall harvest. 700 hours. Self-fruitful. Pat. No. 4388.
PEDRO WALNUT Very small tree, less than 2/3 the size of other
varieties. Well-sealed nut, similar to Payne, has perhaps the finest-
flavored kernel - winner of consumer taste tests. Widely adapted,
excellent choice for home planting. 400 hours. Self-fruitful. (Rootstock:
NCB walnut.)
PLACENTIA WALNUT Best of the Santa Barbara-types, selected in
the early 1900s. Adapted to mild-winter coastal climates of Southern
California. Medium-sized nuts with fairly well-sealed thin shells.
Light-colored plump kernel, mild flavor. Estimated chilling requirement:
less than 300 hours. Self-fruitful.
FAN TEXTM ASH - Fraxinus velutina `Fan TexTM' Superior selection of
Arizona ash. Large dark green leaves, symmetrical canopy, fast growing,
seedless. Good tree for southwestern desert climates. Budded onto
seedling Arizona ash.
ROSEHILL ASH - Fraxinus americana `Rosehill’ Fast growing White
Ash cultivar. Dark green foliage turns a bronze-red in fall. Grows to 60 ft.
or more with an oval shaped canopy. Cold hardy. Zones 1-11, 14-17.
ALLEE ELM Ulmus parvifolia (Emer II). Upright grower to 45 - 65
feet. Tolerates a wide range of soil and weather extremes. Ideal street
tree or other medium type planting. Zones 5-8.
DRAKE EVERGREEN (CHINESE) ELM - Ulmus parvifolia `Drake'
Deciduous in cold climates, evergreen elsewhere. Very fast growth to 50
ft. Long arching/weeping limbs, tree wider than tall. Virtually
pest/disease- free. Sunset zones 8-9, 12-24.
