Flavor Grenade is admittedly an unusual-looking fruit, thus the somewhat humorous name. Harvested in the first two weeks of August, Flavor Grenade features good size (35-40) and a crunchy texture much like an apple. Even when fully ripe, it maintains an unmistakable crunch. As the name suggests, this green Pluot® is oblong in shape and has explosive flavor, tropical-sweet at 22 ºBrix. The pink to red blush is most pronounced in colder climates. Flavor Grenade hangs well on the tree (up to 6 weeks). Pollenized by Betty Anne plum, Flavorfall Pluot® or Candy Stripe Pluot®. Estimated chilling requirement 500 to 600 hours. (U.S. Plant Patent No. 12097)
