Should I soak my fruit tree’s roots before planting?

The roots of a dormant bareroot fruit tree may be soaked overnight or for up to 24 hours before planting. Fully hydrated roots can give a tree a head start, especially in sandy, fast-draining soils that do not retain moisture well.
